The Emory University swimming & diving teams took home team wins as the Emory Fall Invitational came to a close Saturday afternoon in Atlanta.
On the men’s side, the Eagles picked up seven more wins as the Eagles outscored Carson-Newman and Wingate with a winning score of 733 points. For the Emory women, they collected six event wins during session two to win the meet over CNU, Wingate and Georgia Southern with a winning total of 708 points. Collectively, the Eagles tallied 16 NCAA B Cuts on Saturday.
Earning individual event wins for the Emory men on day two was junior Johnny Bradshaw in the 50 Freestyle (20.66), junior Adam Branschweig in the 100 Backstroke (48.71), senior Jake Meyer in the 200 Breaststroke (1:59.17), senior Ryan Soh in the 100 Butterfly (48.27), junior Alexander Pollack in the 200 Freestyle (1:39.49) and sophomore Crow Thorsen in the 400 IM (3:56.38).
In the women’s event, the Eagles saw first place honors bestowed upon junior Jada Chatoor in the 1,650 Freestyle (17:10.69), senior Megan Jungers in the 100 Backstroke (55.68), senior Fiona Arwood in the 200 Breaststroke (2:20.22), freshman Maren McDonald in the 100 Fly (56.00) and senior Tess Klugherz in the 3-meter (272.25).
The Eagles also nabbed relay wins with a sweep of the 200 Medley with Braunschweig, Meyer, junior Jeff Echols and senior Nicholas Goudie (1:27.82) and Jungers, McDonald, freshman Katie Cohen and sophomore Penny Celtnieks (1:43.15).
Other top finishes for the Eagles on Saturday were Helm in the both 50 Freestyle (2nd, 24.00) and 200 Freestyle (1:52.04), freshman Meredith Teague in the 400 IM (4:30.97) and Celtnieks, Helm, senior Moshelle Borjigin and sophomore Jane Sanderson (3:28.16) in the 400 Freestyle for the women and freshman McKee Thorsen (2nd, 48.69) in the 100 Fly, sophomore Henri Bonnault (2nd, 2:01.47) in the 200 Breaststroke), senior Ryan Gibbons (3rd, 16:01.48) and Pollack (3rd, 49.25) in the 100 Backstroke. The Emory men also placed second in the 400 Freestyle Relay with C. Thorsen, Bradshaw, sophomore Caden Bjornstad and freshman Hayden Tupper posting a mark of 3:01.92.
The Eagles will be off for the month of November before return to the pool the weekend of November 30-December 2 with the Denison, SCAD and MIT Invitationals.
