Dixie State enjoyed another banner day in the pool as the Trailblazers rallied to place second overall at the 2019 Colorado Mesa A3 Performance Invitational on Saturday at the CMU El Pomar Natatorium.
After being more than 50 from 2nd place after Day 3 of the meet DSU scored 231 total points on the final day to leap-frog Colorado School of Mines (697) and claim runner-up honors with 710 points.
The Trailblazers notched Eight total NCAA “B” qualifying times and broke 12 school records. Efforts were lead by Senior Hannah Hansen who recorded 3 NCAA “B” cut standards, 2 School Records along with 2 event victories in the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke. Hansen led Dixie State and tied for fourth place overall with 57 points in the meet.
Meanwhile, sophomore Kelsea Wright also posted 3 NCAA “B” times in the 100 free, 200 Free and 500 Free. Wright’s altitude adjusted time of 1:49.85 currently sits at 3rd fastest in the Nation for all Division II swim programs. Wright also finished in the top-10 overall in total meet points with 51 (t-9th).
In all, the Trailblazers combined to break 12 school records, post 8 NCAA cut times, and recorded more than 50 top-10 all-time school marks.
Dixie State will close its 2019 fall slate with a dual meet at the University of San Diego on Saturday, Dec. 14.
