The Czech Swimming Federation will be sending a total of 13 swimmers, seven female and six male, to the World Championships this summer.
The team will include 10 current national record holders. One of the best Czech swimmers is Simona Baumrtova, the first Czech woman to ever swim under one-minute in the long-course version of the 100m backstroke.
Baumrtova is a 2012 bronze medallist from the European Championships in the 100m backstroke, and most recently won gold in the 50m backstroke at the 2013 short course version of the event.
An Olympic semi-finalists, Baumrtova has one of the best chances out of any of the Czech swimmers to reach a world championship final.
On the men’s side, each and every swimmer is a current national record holder. Jan Micka has seen massive improvement since competing at the 2012 Olympic Games as a 17-year-old, and has some fire to bring to the distance freestyle events. Micka just missed out on the 1500 final at last year’s European Championships. Micka did however make the final in both the 400 and 800m freestyle, finishing fifth in the 800.
Other than Micka, the next strongest male competitor on the Czech roster is Petr Bartunek. Bartunek swims a solid 27.58 50m breaststroke and could likely make it past the heats.
Below is the full Czech roster.

Petra Chocova is fast as well, she made the finals in 50 breaststroke at the last worlds with 30.31. She is not that fast this season, but should not be overlooked…
