Hunter Bannick, a senior at Valor Christian High School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, has signed an NLI to swim with The University of Texas of the Permian Basin in Odessa, Texas beginning next fall.
Bannick is a member of Colorado Athletic Club Stingrays where he specializes in IM, back and free. Swimming for Valor Christian at the 2014 CHSAA 4A Boys Swim & Dive State Championships, Bannick placed eighth in the 200 IM and fifth in the 100 back and anchored the 200 medley (22.39) and 400 free (48.76) relays. His top times include:
200y IM: 1:57.71 200m IM: 2:19.17
400y IM: 4:13.73 400m IM: 4:57.95
100y back: 54.96 100m back: 1:04.62
200y back: 1:56.96 200m back: 2:20.43
100y free: 51.45 100m free: 56.97
200y free: 1:51.64 200m free: 2:02.81
Bannick had a breakout long course season last summer, dropping 3.7 seconds in the 200m free, 1.6 in the 100m free, 7 in the 400m IM, 4.7 in the 200m IM, 4.3 in the 100 fly, and 2.3 in the 100 back.
Bannick will have immediate impact on the Falcons in their quest to rise in the standings at the Pacific College Swimming Conference Championships. Already he would score in all his top events and if he continues to develop along the same lines as last summer, he could be a program-changer for UTPB.
Very Proud of You Hunter!
