Lakewood, Ohio’s Kelley Reis has made a verbal commitment to the University of Cincinnati for the 2017-18 season.
“I chose to further my academic and swimming careers at the University of Cincinnati because the environment and resources available cannot be beat. The team is one big family that I cannot wait to be a part of, and Coach Mandy and the rest of the coaching staff have been extremely welcoming throughout the whole process. UC is a fantastic school and I cannot wait to start the next phase of my life in the pool and in the classroom next fall. Go Bearcats!”
Reis is a senior at Lakewood High School. At the 2016 Ohio State Division I Championships, she finished 12th in the 100 back with a personal-best time of 57.67. The previous year she placed 12th in the 100 back and 17th in the 50 free at the state meet.
Reis had a strong spring and summer season with her club team, North East Ohio Nemesis. At the Lake Erie Swimming Senior Championships in March, she earned best times in the 100y breast, 100y fly, 100m fly, and 200y IM. Then in July at Columbus Sectionals, she lowered her previous bests in the 50m free, 100m back, and 200m IM.
Her top SCY events are:
- 50 back – 28.66
- 100 back – 57.67
- 50 free – 24.13
