SALISBURY, N.C. — Catawba College Swim Coach, Michael Sever, has announced the team captains for the 2015-16. Being named captains were Nadine Brockmann for the women and Jevgenij Gamper for the men. Both are Catawba individual record holders and have been named to the Bluegrass Mountain Conference All-Academic Team each year.
“Although I have only been at Catawba for about a month, Jev and Nadine consistently demonstrate a humble sense of pride and leadership qualities that have bonded the team,” said Sever. “They have been a tremendous resource for me, proud ambassadors of the College, and will undoubtedly be an inspiration for others.”
Brockmann, a senior from Hamburg, Germany, currently holds the Catawba records in both the 100 and 200 freestyle events. Those times, 52.98 in the 100 and 1:54.03 in the 200, were set last season. She is also on the record holding relay teams in the 200, 400 and 800 freestyle and the 200 medley relay.
Gamper, a senior from Vilnius, Lithuania, has been an All-Bluegrass Mountain swimmer in the breaststroke. He currently holds individual school marks in the 500 breast (25.79) and the 200 breast (2:02.50). Gamper was a member of the school record setting relay teams in the 200 and 400 medley.
