Bryn Greenwaldt of Augustana will have a busy day as she competes in two NCAA Championships in one day. Greenwaldt is scheduled to swim as well as compete in the high jump at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in the late afternoon.
She has already made history in Indianapolis this week, breaking the Division II NCAA record in the 50 freestyle becoming the first woman to go sub-22 as she posted a 21.92 in prelims.
Greenwaldt’s coach, Andrew Makepeace, has also shown his dual-sport ability. Makepiece coaches the swimmers and divers at Augustana. The program had both swimmers and divers make NCAAs.
Follow along to see her busy day unfold.
Morning Prelims- Swimming
Greenwaldt woke up at 7:15, ate breakfast, and made her way to the pool at 8:00 am for prelims.
Greenwaldt on her way to the pool for prelims: 8:07 am
8:30 am: Getting in some dynamic warm up before hopping in the pool
8:46 am: Getting in the pool for warm up
9:30 am: Done with warm up, exercise ring filled
10:26 Greenwaldt swims a 49.03 100 free in prelims
She is the #2 seed heading into the ‘A’ final tonight. Her swim also was a personal best as her previous best was a 49.57 that she swam for 2nd at last year’s NCAAs.
10:36 Done with prelims race, about to warm down, watch teammate, and leave the pool
2:50ish: At the track and field venue, using the massage gun to loosen up
With high jump expected to begin around 3:55 pm, Greenwaldt will have a quick turnaround before making her way to the pool. The drive is just over five miles but the drive time varies with traffic.
Track announced her as competing in the 150 freestyle. I mean it’s just the two events combined missing her backstroke plus relays but nice to acknowledge what she’s doing also.💙💛
I am so invested in this.
Great story!
This is such feel good content. I’m happy she’s willing to share and that SwimSwam is covering it. It’s a unique situation so it gets more attention. It in no way diminishes what every other woman has done to get to either of the championships. It’s just so nice to have a story a like this when there is so much negative stuff going on and so much uncertainty in other things.
It’s just cool and fun.
Hard core! Love this content.
Great day-in-the-life story!
Slay
But which toppings did she choose to put on her Subway sandwich at lunch? (pickles = gross)
Chips and a drink, or did she pick the cookie?
