Backstroker Megan Lugar Commits to Valparaiso

Backstroker Megan Lugar has made her college decision, as she’s announced her commitment to swim for Valparasio University in the NCAA starting in the 2017-18 season. Lugar, who competes for the Southeastern Swim Club in Indiana, will be moving up to Indiana to attend Valparasio. She’s currently a senior at Hamilton Southeastern High School.

On her commitment:

“The close-knit atmosphere of the team really drew me into the swimming aspect, but the PA program was academically a perfect fit for me as well. Overall, the school, team and swimming program all seemed like the perfect fit for me from the start. I can’t wait to be a crusader!”

Last season, Lugar competed in the 100 back at the 2016 Indiana Girls State Championships, placing 12th overall. She also qualified to compete at the NCSA Summer Swimming Championships during the long course portion of the season. Her highest finish came in the 50 back, where she swam to 41st place.

Lugar’s Top Times:

  • 100 yard back- 57.15
  • 200 yard back- 2:07.15
  • 100 yard fly- 1:02.05
  • 200 yard IM- 2:13.44
  • 100 yard free- 56.15

Valparaiso University is still in Indiana…. not Michigan….However, go VU!
