OAK sends 28 Hopefuls to Canadian Olympic Trials

Oakville Aquatic Club are counting down the days and hours to the 2016 Canadian Olympic & Para Swimming Trials. OAK is sending 28 athletes along to the Trials being held at Toronto Pan Am Sport Centre, each hoping to represent Canada in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

5 Catamounts Named to America East Swimming & Diving All-Academic Team

Five members of the University of Vermont women’s swimming & diving program have been named to the America East All-Academic Team. Stefi Geiger, Abby Holmquist, Sarah Mantz,Elena Melloni, and Maggie Preston received the honor from the conference as UVM comprised five of the 13 honorees.

Congratulations to the Texas Longhorns, the 2016 NCAA Men’s Champions

At the meet’s conclusion, the Texas men walked away with 9 event titles out of 21 events, scoring 541.5 points total. The only team in history with more event titles were the 2001 Longhorns.

2016 M. NCAA Championships: Texas Leads Day 4 Ups/Downs, Close Battles for Top 5 Spots

The Texas men are in position to defend their NCAA title, but the battle for the rest of the top 5 spots could get interesting. Cal and Florida are separated by 16 points right now, with the Golden Bears sitting in 2nd.

The USA Water Polo Women’s National Team punched their ticket to the 2016 Olympic Games with a 19-0 shutout France earlier today at the Olympic Qualification Tournament.

WATCH 200 Medley Relay Featuring Fastest 50 back, 50 fly Splits Ever

The men’s 200 medley relay went to Alabama, but the race also featured monster swims from Cal and Texas. Ryan Murphy posted the fastest 50 back in history and Joseph Schooling swam the fastest 50 fly split ever.

Ryan Murphy Swims Fastest Ever 50 Back with 20.20 Relay Split

Cal’s Ryan Murphy rolled to another historic swim as the backstroker on the Golden Bears’ 200 medley relay. Murphy split a 20.20 on the lead off, clearing the previous mark of 20.35 done by Junya Koga in 2014.

Ryan Murphy, Back at it Again with the American Record

California’s Ryan Murphy struck once again in the men’s 100 backstroke at the 2016 Men’s NCAA Championships. Murphy claimed his 3rd straight title in the event, lowering his own American, NCAA, and U.S. Open Record to a 43.49.

IOC awards 2018-2024 broadcast Rights in New Zealand & Pacific Islands

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has awarded SKY Network Television Ltd the right to broadcast the XXIII Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, the Games of the XXXII Olympiad Tokyo 2020, the XXIV Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 and the Olympic Games 2024, the host city of which has yet to be elected.

Lilly King Earns Big Ten Swimmer of the Year

Indiana’s Lilly King was named unanimous Big Ten Swimmer of the Year, while Minnesota’s Yu Zhou was the unanimous pick for Big Ten Diver of the Year.

Instead of focusing on triumph the ad depicts sacrifice. It shows pain and suffering and struggle. It shows not a powerful and victorious athlete, but an athlete that is hurting.

2016 M. NCAA Championships: Cal Gets Most Ups, Texas Gets Highest Total for Day 3 Ups/Downs

Following day 2, the Longhorns have the lead, followed by Florida, Cal, NC State, and Michigan. We could see a few shifts in the team placing tonight. Cal will bring back the most A-finalists, with 5 ups and 3 downs.

Brandeis University’s Zotz Earns Hall of Fame Honors

Jim Zotz is being inducted in the Brandeis University Hall of Fame in the contributor category. Zotz is considered the architect of Brandeis Swimming and Diving, serving as the program’s head coach of both the men’s and women’s teams from 1978 to 2010.
