2017 Arena PSS- Mesa Prelims Scratches: Taylor Ruck Will Swim on Day 3

The big news for the morning is that Canadian Olympian and age group wonder Taylor Ruck is slated to swim the 100 back, after sitting out the last two days of the meet. Meanwhile, 2nd-seed Conor Dwyer has scratched the 200 IM, after swimming on Thursday and missing yesterday.

Ticket sales for the 2017 Men’s NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships clocked in at the second-most in history. However, in a huge facility like the IUPUI Natatorium hundreds of seats were still left empty.

166 Athletes Sign Letter Asking NCAA to Reconsider NC Decision

166 athletes, including 19 swimmers (such as Nancy Hogshead-Makar, G Ryan, and Bob Glover) have submitted a letter to the NCAA asking the Board of Governors to reconsider their decision to return championships to North Carolina.

North Carolina Venue Lost over $72,000 on ACC Swimming Relocation

The state of North Carolina lost between $450 and $630 million over anti-LGBT law HB2, including a portion from the relocation of the 2017 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships. Now, the NCAA must decide whether the law’s repeal does enough to justify holding athletic championships in the state once again.
