Saint Petersburg, Florida’s Peyton Palsha has made a verbal commitment to the University of Arkansas for 2017-18.
“After I met the head coach and he convinced me to come for a visit, I fell in love with Arkansas. I didn’t believe people when they said ‘you’ll just know and you’ll just instantly fall in love!’. I thought they were being dramatic but apparently they weren’t! It was a huge surprise that the college I wanted to go to also wanted me as well! Picking a college is hard and very confusing and very stressful. It seems like a long process that never ends. But in the end it was worth it because I found the college that I was meant to swim for and I’m never looking back.”
Palsha swims for Saint Petersburg High School and Saint Petersburg Aquatics, and specializes in the uncommon combination of breaststroke and distance freestyle. She competed at U.S. Olympic Trials in the 400m and 800m freestyles, and also has national-level times in the 100/200 breast and 200 IM. Swimming for her high school in last fall’s 2015 FHSAA Class 2A State Championships, Palsha raked in two bronze medals individually, finishing third in the 200 free (1:50.37) and 500 free (4:51.91).
