Olympic gold medalist Amaury Leveaux will be taking time away from the pool to regenerate and reexamine his motivation before heading into a cycle of preparation for another Olympic Games, “I decided to take time for me to reflect, to see if I still want to swim,” Leveaux told beIN Sport. “I need a break, to renew myself both physically and mentally.”
He also told the publication that he would he would make a determination of where he is at in September, but that the 2016 Rio Olympics are still in the forefront of his mind.
Last summer Leveaux won a World Championship gold in the 4 x 100 freestyle relay after swimming the lead-off leg in the preliminaries.
Leveaux, a two time French Olympian, still holds the short course world record in the 100 freestyle and at the 2012 Olympics in London earned gold as a member of the 4 x 100 freestyle French relay team and a silver as a member of the 4 x 200 freestyle French relay team.
Hopefully, he will not gain 30 pounds during this period.
