The summer is winding down which means the 2025-2026 college swimming season is right around the corner. It was a relatively quiet summer of coaching changes with only about a third of the amount as last summer.
PROGRAMS THAT HAVE ALREADY FILLED THEIR HEAD COACHING POSITIONS:
- Stanford Women: Greg Meehan departed Stanford to join USA Swimming as he was named National Team Director. Arriving to lead the women’s team is Chris Lindauer who most recently spent time at Notre Dame.
- Wisconsin: Also joining USA Swimming was Wisconsin’s Yuri Suguiyama as he was named National Team Senior Director and Coach. Wisconsin hired Dr Jack Brown who most recently was associate head coach at UNC.
- Georgia Tech: The Yellowjackets elevated head diving coach John Ames from interim head coach to permanent head coach back in February. Ames was named interim head coach at the start of the season after Courtney Shealy Hart resigned just days before classes began last August.
- Notre Dame: With Lindauer leaving to join Stanford, Notre Dame hired Michael Norment from Georgia. Norment was the associate head coach at his alma mater for the men’s program at Georgia.
- Georgetown: John Carroll was announced as the next head coach at Georgetown after Jack Leavitt departed the program to become an athletic director at a high school in California. Carroll most recently was an assistant coach at Virginia.
- Niagara: Eric Bugby stepped down as head coach at Niagara in April. Matt Bosse was hired in July as the next head coach after previously being at Towson as an assistant.
- Cal State Bakersfield: In August, Bugby was announced as the next head coach at Cal State Bakersfield. He replaces Chris Hansen who announced his retirement in June following a period of paid administrative leave.
- Monmouth: Hayley Masi was announced as the next head coach of Monmouth in July. She replaces Matt Nunnally who announced his retirement after spending 11 seasons with the program.

With the departures of A. Roghair and L. Nordmann, the Stanford University women’s swimming program will be hard pressed to match last season’s point totals at the NCAA DI Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships.
Has Notre Dame filled out their staff at all? Retaining previous staff?
Josh Arndt, Joao de Lucca, and Trevor Carroll are the listed staff. Kelsi Dahlia posted on IG that she was moving on (unclear what to).
Do we have a running list of top 5/10 years with the most turbulent coaching carousel in recent memory?
I don’t, but could be a fun exercise. I remember the one from 2 or 3 years ago feeling like an all-timer.
Anyone see that Peter Andrew’s back in coaching? I think it’s the Podium Aquatics team in Hawaii
Got to find someone else to convince they are a pro at 14….
Not a great advertisement when your stated goal is, “I’m doing this to prove I’m right.”
wasn’t that the team schubert had?
for a hot minute.
At least they’ve got continuity in philosophy, so they’ve got that going for them.
