2025 World Cup – Toronto: Day 1 Prelims Scratches – O’Callaghan Joins Walsh in Dropping 50 FR

2025 WORLD AQUATICS SWIMMING WORLD CUP – Toronto

Day 1 Prelims Heat Sheet

Australia’s Mollie O’Callaghan has added her name to the large list of high profile scratches we reported about last night as the recent 200 free world record holder has pulled out of this morning’s 50 free. O’Callaghan appeared to have injured her finger/nail before the 100 free in Westmont, but appears to be able to still swim as she is still entered in the 50 back.  Gretchen Walsh the WR in the 50 has also withdrawn from the event, and instead will swim the 50 back and 100 IM.

In the 50 back she will be up against Kaylee McKeown, who is now the top seed as Regan Smith has pulled out of the event. So too has Belgian star Roos VanOtterdijk, whose lone event on the day will be the 100 IM as she has also pulled out of the 50 free. While still entered in an event there are some high profile international swimmers who have completely emptied their day.

New Zealand’s Lewis Clareburt was scheduled to swim in the final heat of the 400 free tonight but has pulled out of both it and the 200 back. South Africa’s Chad le Clos and Aruba’s Mikel Schreuders have also cleared their mornings, scratching multiple events each.
