The 2014 U.S. Masters Swimming spring nationals have wrapped but for 1000’s of masters swimmers the memories are as fresh as the lactic acid that undoubtedly fills their muscles following a 4 days of intense racing. Nathan Adrian popped off the blazing 41.13 in the 100 free in less than perfect conditions – he was certainly buoyed by the electric atmosphere but finding space in the warm up pool was tricky at best. Adrain was one of 100’s of swimmers who ripped off fast swims in Santa Clara. So what does it look like when a meet of 2200 plus swimmers opens for general warm up? Sports photographer Mike Lewis pulled together this time lapse from Saturday’s session. Following the completion of the women’s 500 freestyle the pool opened up for a half hour of warm up. Leading into the video you see the finish of the last heat of the 500 free on the far course and at around the 20 second mark everything cuts loose as swimmers jump into the pool.
