Breaststroker Hannah Jones Commits to Delta State

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Hannah Jones, a senior at Prattville High School in Alabama, has verbally committed to Delta State University.

Delta State really felt like home! The team and coaches was like no other!”

At the 2022 Alabama High School Girls’ State Championships, Jones finished 6th in the 100 breast and 13th in the 50 free. Her 100 breast finish is an improvement from 2021, where she finished 7th in the event. She also finished 13th in the 50 free in 2021.

Jones also competes for Prattville YMCA. At the 2022 Southeastern Short Course Championships in Huntsville, she finished 6th in the 50 breast; she also finished 7th in the 50m breast at the 2022 Southeastern Long Course Championships.

Best short-course yards times:

  • 50 free: 25.13
  • 100 free: 55.35
  • 100 breast: 1:07.58
  • 200 breast: 2:31.14

Delta State is a Division II school and a member of the New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference. At the 2022 women’s NSISC Swimming and Diving Championships, Delta State finished 2nd out of 6 teams, behind the University of West Florida.

At that meet and with her best times, Jones could’ve made the B finals of the 100 and 200 breast, and she also could’ve made the C final of the 50 and 100 free.

Just four women out of Delta State’s 22-person roster list breaststroke as one of their selected strokes. One of them is current junior Daniella Solkow, who is the 2nd-fastest 100 breaststroker in the conference this season with a time of 1:03.49. Freshman Pia Delkeskamp, whom Jones will have more time to train with, is the 7th-fastest 100 breaststroker, with a time of 1:05.37.

Currently, Delta State has won all of its meets of the season, including two invitationals. At the 2022 DII NCAA Championships, the Delta State women finished 15th.

Jones joins Jessica Gannon, Kat Claycomb, and Shayna Gayer in the class of 2027.
