SMITHFIELD, R.I.- The Bryant men’s and women’s swim teams both defeated NEC foe Wagner on Saturday in their final dual meet of the fall season. The teams combined to win a total of twenty events during the meet.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Fu Kang Wong won a total of three events, including two individual. He was part of the winning 200 medley relay team, along with Matthew Mays, Dom Scifo, and Alex Rowson, who hit the wall at 1:34.06. Wong also took home victory in the 50 free (21.97) and 100 free (47.56).

  • Reagan Lord won both the 100 and 200 back, setting a pool record of 56.72 in the 100 and a time of 2:02.65 in the 200.

  • Matthew Mays won a pair of events for the men. In addition to the 200 medley relay, he also came first in the 200 fly with a time of 1:54.00. He led a top three sweep for the Bulldogs, with Andrew Gamper and Charlie London in the runner-up spots.

  • Erin Doruska captured two victories as well, winning the 200 free (1:58.12) and swimming the third leg for the victorious 400 free relay team featuring Charlee LeGallaisLaurel Carey, and Alyvia Beaudion, who hit the wall at 3:37.77.

  • Carey won two events as well, also picking up an individual win in the 100 free with a time of 54.33.

  • Calvin Groenewold won both breaststroke events for the men, finishing the 200 at 58.79 and the 200 at 2:10.00.

  • Natalia Kuipers won both distance events on the women’s side, finishing the 1000 free at 10:50.20 and the 500 free at 5:17.67.

  • Leo Luna also won twice for the men, taking first in the 200 free (1:45.24) and 500 free (5:04.46)

Smithfield, RI- The Wagner women’s swimming & diving team broke a pool record at Bryant Saturday afternoon in the 200 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:47.11.

The group of swimmers in that relay included Allie D’AllegroEllie EastwoodJudith Desforges, and Abbie Hassell.

The Seahawks lost their first meet of the season to Northeast Conference (NEC) opponent Bryant 168-113.

The strongest showing in the pool for the Seahawks came in the 100 Yard Breaststroke. Eastwood finished in first place of the heat hitting the wall at 1:06.53. Teammate Bree Anderson finished right behind her at 1:09.57. Eastwood had her second first-place finish of the afternoon in the 200 Yard Breaststroke, finishing with a time of 2:26.25.

Eastwood closed out her dominant performance with her third victory of the day, winning the 400 Individual Medley with a time of 4:34.52. In that race, Anderson had another second-place finish with a 4:37.49.

In the 200 Yard Backstroke, Anderson had her third second-place finish of the day, hitting the wall 2:08.19. D’Allegro finished right behind in third place at 2:12.55.

Hannah Muro and Kate Wilkerson swam a tight race in the 200 Yard Freestyle, finishing a tad behind a pair of Bulldogs, resulting in a third and fourth place finish for the two Seahawks. Muro finished two seconds behind the winner, touching the wall at 2:00.19 while Wilkerson finished at 2:02.00.

In the 1 Meter Diving event for the Seahawks, Meliti Efthimiou scored a 177.15, finishing in third place. Also diving was Naomi Shorr, who scored a 129.01 in the event.

Wagner is back in the pool December 3-5 for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships in East Meadow, NY.

Smithfield, RI- The Wagner men’s swimming & diving program swam against Northeast Conference (NEC) opponent Bryant on Saturday afternoon.

Dylan Egan and Matt Dingess battled in the 200 Yard Freestyle, posting times of 1:52.95 and 1:53.58, respectively. The teammates swam to a third and fourth-place finish in that heat.

Adrian Aguirre hit the wall at 54.19 in the 100 Yard Backstroke, just three seconds out of a first place finish. Tristan Lee had a pair of third-place finishes in Saturday’s meet. The freshman had a time of 1:02.88 in the 100 Yard Breaststroke and 2:18.38 in the 200 Yard Breaststroke.

Danny Connell had a time of 5:13.14 in the 500 Yard Freestyle. In the 200 Yard Butterfly, Derek Whyte touched the wall at 2:09.10.

The Seahawks dropped Saturday’s meet 238-30 to the Bulldogs.

Wagner is back in the pool December 3-5 for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships in East Meadow, NY.
