…The Gator Swim Club has made their hire of a new head coach. They have brought in Jaime Lewis, who was formerly an assistant at the University of Houston (who spent time under both Mark Taylor and Augie Busch). Lewis is a former All-American and Academic All-American at the University of Florida, and has previously served as the Head Age Group coach at FLEET in Houston, one of the top club programs in the country. Lewis is also a former US National Team member. The Gator Swim Club is not formally linked to Gregg Troy’s program at the University of Florida, though the connection is very strong. Many of Troy’s international group (the Pinto sisters, the Fraser brothers) represent the club in US competition. She takes over the spot vacated when Bryan Woodward was arrested on charges of “Travel to meet a minor“…
…The first athlete has been hit by heightened sensitivity over social media use, according to the Washington Post. Greek triple jumper Voula Papachristou was ousted after Tweeting that “With so many Africans in Greece, the West Nile mosquitoes will be getting home food!!!”. The decision was made by the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Greece’s federation, and though it doesn’t formally violate the new IOC social media laws (that mostly relate to what athletes can and cannot share pictures of or promote), this could be seen as a violation of the broader rules in the Olympic Charter that outlaw any form of discrimination as “incompatible with belonging to the Olympic movement.” Papachristou’s Tweets seem to tie her to the Golden Dawn Party, a fringe organization that is far to the right of the political spectrum, but has gained footing in recent elections as the country struggles through a huge debt crisis. Papachristou was a promising young talent who in 2008 took bronze at the World Junior Championships..

Brett Hawke, coach at Auburn, said that Cielo is still the best sprinter and man to beat in 100.

Even being Brazilian I doubt Cielo can Face Mag. I think he may be the guy who will be closest to Mag on the race.. his coach said he is prepared for 47.3 47.5.. but that´s not enough to beat Mag, that can probably be something that will add more Fire on Mag breaking the WR… unless Mag has a mental breakdown on the race.. which is unlikely..

This is the least of Greece’s problems , ironically much of it due to the Olympics in Athens.
Haha 2004 Athens led to Greede debacle??? How about a highly socialist government dating back to the 80’s? Pro union pro big government pro socialism can only last so long. When the bills came due post 2007 and no more tax revenue to pay for it the system collapsed. If we were smart we would take note of Greece/Spain but we’re artificially propped up by the dollar being the world’s reserve currency. Stick to the swim talk – Greece made its bed back in the 80’s – their current fiasco had little to do with 2004.
Yep, it was just ridiculous a country like Greece was given the behemoth olympics.
