We also have the chance to see an NCAA Record in the men’s 500 freestyle thanks to Tampa’s Jacob Hamlin, who has already won two events this meet, one of which in record breaking fashion.
The session will end with the women’s 3-Meter followed by the 200 freestyle relay.

Tori Meklensek won her first event of this championships, after she just barely got out touched in the 1000 on night two. She continued her exceptional senior season with her swim tonight of 4:44.87. This was a little more than two seconds faster than her previous best time of 4:47.08 from last month. Coming into the season, her best time in the event was 4:47.76, which she did at last year’s championships. This was also her first ever NCAA title, redeeming her runner-up finish from last year.
Lucy Hedley from Grand Valley came in 2nd in the event, almost three seconds back, at 4:47.57. Hedley was actually head of Meklensek for the first 200 of the race, flipping a few tenths ahead. She wasn’t able to hold onto that speed, however, and dropped to 29s for the rest of the race.
Montana White from Azusa Pacific held very consistent splits throughout, allowing her to stay ahead of Hailey Williams in fourth, and finish a little more than a second behind Hedley.
With that event alone, Nova has officially moved ahead of Drury in the team rankings.
