Highlighting the scratches for the Pro Swim Series in Westmont Night 2 is Regan Smith who has scratched the 50 back in favor of the 100 fly. Smith swam the second fastest time this morning in the 50 back touching in a 27.54, 0.12 behind American Record holder Katharine Berkoff who swam a 27.42.
Smith swam the 50 back this morning right before the 100 fly where she posted the top time of the morning swimming a 57.83. Smith won the 100 fly at Pro Swim in Fort Lauderdale at the beginning of March as she touched in a personal best time of 56.60.
Also a top 8 scratch tonight is Erin Gemmell in the 400 IM. Gemmell swam the fifth fastest time this morning posting a 4:51.81. Gemmell swam the 200 free earlier in the session and is the second seed heading into tonight after swimming a 1:58.62, less than two tenths behind Anna Peplowski who swam a 1:58.43. Gemmell was seventh at International Team Trials last year, just missing the Worlds team.
On the men’s side, there are three scratches in the 400 IM including from Will Licon who swam the 10th fastest time this morning. Licon is in the A final of the 100 breast tonight after swimming the seventh fastest time this morning with a 1:01.36.
Also scratching the 400 IM is Eitan Ben Shitrit who was 16th this morning and Jassen Yep who was 26th.
Other Scratches:
- Kim Herkle Women’s 100 breast, 11th
- Sydney Schoeck Women’s 50 back, 22nd
- Caroline Bricker Women’s 100 fly, 23rd
- Hector Ruvalcaba Cruz Men’s 100 fly, 21st
i don’t see her going for it but she totally has a shot at making the team in the 100 fly depending on who else swims it
Yeah. Based upon the NCAA results this year its kind of a weak event for the American women. 🤪
haha i mean Curzan was nowhere at her best at NCAAs, MacNeil is Canadian and Huske I’ve already assumed will make the event. I don’t see Douglass swimming this and doing the 200 breast/IM instead but maybe she’ll surprise me
And all those results are in yards. It will be an exciting race in the big pool. I assume Regan will be in the thick of it
