Stanford junior Brooke Forde has made a change in her NCAA lineup this season. Forde, the reigning NCAA 500 free champion, will still swim that event on day 1 as expected. She’s the 6th seed going in. She’ll also swim the 400 IM again this year after placing 3rd in 2019. Forde is the top seed there after winning the Pac-12 title last week. It was her first ever individual Pac-12 title.
Her 3rd event is where she’s made a change this year. Forde will swim the 200 breast instead of the 200 fly. At Pac-12s, Forde won her 2nd individual title in the 200 breast with a new best time.
This won’t be the first time Forde has swum the 200 breast at NCAAs. She placed 23rd in the event as a freshman in 2018. However, she chose the 200 fly instead in 2019 and placed 10th. She’s just outside of the top 8 seeds in the 200 breast at 9th after Louisville’s Morgan Friesen raced to a 2:07.24 at the Tennessee Last Chance Meet.
*insert 250m joke here*
