The Ohio Bobcats picked up a top recruit out of Wisconsin when Corrin VanLanen of Pulaski Area Swim Club gave them her verbal commitment to join the class of 2019.
VanLanen, a senior at Pulaski High School, is a three-time Fox River Classic Conference swimmer of the year. She has scored at the Wisconsin division 1 high school state meet six times and was State Champion in the 100 fly as a sophomore.
2011 WIAA Girls Division 1 State Meet: 200 free 1:53.35 (7th), 100 fly 56.32 (2nd)
2012 WIAA Girls Division 1 State Meet: 50 free 23.31 (2nd), 100 fly 55.60 (1st)
2013 WIAA Girls Division 1 State Meet: 50 free 23.46 (2nd), 100 fly 55.35 (4th)
VanLanen will add strength to the Bobcats’ lineup in both individual and relay events. Her best times going into the 2014-15 season are:
100y fly: 55.11
50y free: 23.31
100y free: 50.93
200y free: 1:51.59
Her best 50 and 100 free times would have scored individually at 2014 Mid-American Conference Championships, and all three of her frees should be helpful to the Bobcats’ relays. In addition, her fastest 100 fly would have placed her in the A final; this was one of Ohio’s strongest events.
VanLanen overcame health issues two years ago and has worked hard to get back to the top. Her goals for the Wisconsin high school season, currently underway, are a couple of championship titles and times of sub-23 and sub-55 in the 50 free and 100 fly, respectively.
Welcome to the Bobcat family, Corrin! Really looking forward to seeing what our women do under Rachel!
