Michael Phelps Says, World Champs 1st Swim Meet Since London Olympics He’s Seen

Michael Phelps, 22-time Olympic gold medalist, is back on deck to support his peers at the 2013 FINA World Championships.

No word about the boot he’s wearing on his foot, except a half joking comment: “I guess it’s true. You can get hurt on the golf course.”

Phelps said he’s happy to be back on deck and not experience the nerves of having to compete.

When asked what he’s most excited about, Phelps said he was simply excited to see people compete, that this was the first time seeing a swimming compeition since the 2012 London Olympic Games. (Surely he means first international swimming competition? I’m guessing he’s dropped in on some kids’ meets?)
