The Missouri men have added a commitment from Nitro Swimming’s Micah Slaton for their class of 2020.
Slaton is a strong 100/200 butterflier, with Winter Nationals cuts in both events. He also has solid backstroke times to boot.
Slaton’s Top Times
- 100y fly – 48.76
- 200y fly – 1:47.82
- 100y back – 50.08
- 100m fly – 55.80
- 200m fly 2:04.42
Slaton finished 2nd in the 100 back and 4th in the 100 fly at the Texas 5A HS Championships as a junior for Dripping Springs High School.
The Tigers now have three incoming freshmen who are very strong butterfly/backstroke combos. In addition to Slaton, Mizzou has received verbals from NCSA Jr National Champ Nick Alexander (49.5/1:46.3 back, 49.4 fly) as well as Y-Nats Short Course and Long Course Champ Daniel Hein (47.7/1:46.2 back, 48.5/1:46.3 fly). Slaton is more of a butterflier, relative to his backstroke times, but the trio as a whole should have impactful careers with the Tigers.
Slaton would’ve been 5th on Mizzou’s top times list last year in the 100 fly, which would also put him as their 3rd fastest returning this season; Mack Darragh and Igor Kozlovskij have since graduated.
The Tigers have a ton of talent this year, and they’ll look to continue bringing in top-tier recruits like Slaton as they work their way up the SEC ladder.
