SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Diving closed its home meet with a second day of solid competition on Saturday evening.
“The women had a great night and really made some great improvements and adjustments on their dives,” diving coach Richard Marschner said. “Even though Lexi Mills did not qualify for the finals I am really excited about how she dived in prelims. I think she is going to make a big charge in the new year. Regan Caufield was electric and it was fun watching her light it up tonight.
Caufield recorded the top Utah score in the 3m at 302.95 with Lizzy DeCecco placing fifth (285.90). Emma Ruchala was seventh overall with a total of 271.30
“Luke finished off a great meet and just missed winning,” Marschner added. “He missed his final dive and dropped back to third but this was his best meet as a Ute.”
Speaking of the men’s 1m, McDivitt jumped from fifth to third with a final score of 310.10. Chase Hindmarsh had the biggest improvement of any diver, moving up five spots to place sixth overall with a score of 270.15. Tony Chen slipped back from seventh in the prelims but stayed in the top 10.
