The University of Nevada swimming & diving team took to the pool for the first time under the leadership of first-year head coach Brendon Bray for the Silver & Blue pentathlon on Saturday morning at Lombardi Pool. The blue squad scored a 61.5-49.5 victory over the silver team.
Each team won three events in the meet. Senior Arantxa Medina was a double winner taking the 100-yard breaststroke and IM for the silver squad. Medina placed second in the 100-yard butterfly.
Senior Teresa Baerens opened the meet with a victory in the 100-yard freestyle for the silver squad. Baerens was third in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Another of the Pack’s seniors, Sita Kusserow won the 100-yard butterfly for the blue team, placed second in the 100-yard freestyle and took third in the 100-yard IM. Kusserow added a couple of fourth place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard backstroke.
Junior Jaeger Turner swam to a first place finish in the 100-yard backstroke for the blue team. Turner was second in the 100-yard IM and fifth in the 100-yard butterfly.
Sophomore diver Zoe Lei took the 1-meter diving event with a score 285.65 to earn points for the blue team.
