There’s at least one on every team: the oddball swimmer (or diver) who dresses up in funny outfits at major meets and cheers on the rest of the team with emphatic zeal, livening the mood and siphoning some of the stress out of the air. In the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, or MIAA, team costumes and MIAA “themes” are the norm for Kalamazoo College.
Albion Men Win 1st MIAA Title In 46 Years, Calvin Women Repeat
For the first time since 1971 the Albion College men’s swimming & diving team won the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championship team title, defeating defending champions Calvin College by over 200 points. For the 13th-consecutive year the Calvin College women won the MIAA title, holding off rival Hope College.
Three records fall over first two days of MIAA Championships to Calvin College’s Waugh, Calvin relay and Kalamazoo’s Edsall
Calvin College broke the men’s 800 free relay conference record, and on the women’s side Erika Waugh broke the 100 backstroke mark twice on Thursday. Kalamazoo also got in on the action with Tristyn Edsall breaking the 50 free record in prelims.
