Freshman Jenna Watson was among the individual winners at SMU’s annual intrasquad meet, picking up a win in the 200 IM at her first ever college meet.
Following their Friday meet with Texas, SMU held Saturday time trials as a final tuneup ahead of AACs. Several best times were set in the trials.
Freshman star Kelly Pash topped Big 12 Champion Claire Adams, 53.90 to 54.55, in the 100 back. She would later go on to win the 500 free in 4:48.83.
Sam Medlin (Houston) was a double event winner, sweeping the distance freestyles.
The Mustang men opened the 2019-20 season in dominating fashion, with a 171-125 win over TCU, while the women won 190.5-115.5.
The SMU women’s swimming and diving team is back in action Saturday when it hosts Rice and Arkansas at 11 a.m. at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium.
The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving honors for the week ending Nov. 4, with SMU taking all four accolades.
