Risolvato Takes Down Own Puerto Rican 50m Record in Pan Am Finals

  1 Retta Race | July 17th, 2015

After earning his spot in tonight’s Pan American 50m final via a head-to-head swim-off with Trinidad and Tobago’s Dylan Carter, Erik Risolvato, made the most of his lane 8 appearance, finishing in 4th place overall.  His time of 22.22 further lowers his own Puerto Rican national record of 22.33 set in that swim-off duel with Carter.

Risolvato’s 22.33 clocking had already broken the 18-year old Puerto Rican national record in the 50m free event, but he dropped another .11 of a second in finals to re-write the records books in a matter of hours.

One-time high school superstar, Risolvato had taken a hiatus from swimming all-together, but came back to the sport in 2014 and has been steadily improving ever since.  He dipped under the 23-mark for the first time in two years just last July, clocking a 22.95 at the Florida Gold Coast Championships.
