On each day of the official Olympic torch relay, carrying the Olympic flame to the Olympic cauldron in Rio de Janeiro, the Rio2016 Facbeook page is posting brilliant and spectacular images from one of the world’s unique and most beautiful landscapes. Each day until August 5th, we will bring you these stunning images.
On day 50 of the Olympic torch relay, the torch continued its journey into Rio Branco, Acre. Rio Branco is the capital of the state Acre, located in the valley of the Acre River in northern Brazil. It is the most populous municipality in the state with over 319,825 inhabitants.
The relay was happy to move on after a jaguar was shot on day 49 in Manaus.
Take a look at the pictures from day 50 below:
I would have liked to see the relay run through the Southside of Chicago . Some guy got shot dead at a place called “Back of the Yards ” which is a homely descriptive place . More intriguing is that it was in a churchyard whilst mass was ongoing.
Depending where they would have routed the torch I think Chicago could have equalled the ‘natives ‘ above.in all their finery. We should have had a tangent games & a competition between .
I’m waiting for the next headline to highlight some disaster regarding the relay or Rio’s preparation for the games
