Rex Maurer 31st to 1st in NCAA 500 Free: “I have, obviously, a lot of demons after last year”

2025 Men’s NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships

After placing 31st in the 500 free his freshman year at the NCAAs, Rex Maurer has lit the 500 free in the NCAA on fire. He broke the American record in November (4:04.45), won the SEC title, and is now an NCAA champion. After the race, Maurer reflected on his journey in the last year and what he has overcome to put himself on top of the podium.
