University of Nevada sophomore Scarlett Ferris is out of this year’s NCAA Championships due to an injury, and first alternate Casaundra Moses from NC State is in.
Ferris earned an invite as the 33rd seed in the women’s 100 backstroke with the 51.60 she went leading off the medley relay at the Mountain West Conference Championships.
She was also entered in the 50 free, where she was seeded 58th at 22.26, and the 100 backstroke, where she was seeded 54th at 52.74.
Junior Casaundra Moses was the 1st alternate at the 38th seed in the women’s 50 freestyle. She will take Ferris’ spot in the meet, and she will likely also swim the 100 freestyle with her ‘B’ cut time of 48.80.
With this scratch, NC State’s swimmer count moves to 11, putting them one athlete ahead of Indiana, who they were tied with.
She also will become the 67th junior entered into the meet, officially making them the largest class.
Elizabeth Sowards from UNC will now be the 1st alternate.
