CLEVELAND, Ohio – Turning in three individual wins and contributing to the Missouri State men’s swimming and diving’s landslide victory over South Dakota at the Kansas Double Dual, Michael Hampel received the Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Week distinction, as announced by the league Wednesday.
The Owensboro, Ky. product recorded the best time in the 100 breaststroke, 200 IM, and 200 breaststroke events, amassing key points in the Bears’ 218-129 rout of South Dakota.
He also proved crucial in MSU’s team events, swimming a leg in the Bears’ first-place spot in the 200 medley. This marks his first conference honor as a Bear.
Up next, MSU travels to Terra Haute, Ind. for the two-day Indiana State Invitational beginning Saturday, Oct. 19.
