Head Coach

Job Description:

Humboldt Swim Club has an immediate opening for a positive, experienced, enthusiastic head coach for their year-round competitive swim team.

Humboldt Swim Club is a non-profit, board-governed, head-coach charged swim team located in Arcata, CA that practices at the Arcata Community Pool and the Humboldt State University pool.

The mission of Humboldt Swim Club is to provide the youth of our community with a USA Swimming club and to promote the sport of swimming in our area. The team currently has 105 members, from novice to Junior National qualifiers.

Duties include but are not limited to:

On deck coaching/training of Senior group
Development and oversight of training program for all groups
Develop, mentor and supervise part-time/age-group coaches
Development of staff schedule for practices and meets
Attendance and leadership at swim meets
Establish and maintain relationships with regular and timely communication with swimmers, parents, coaches and board members
Serve as team representative with Pacific Swimming

The ideal candidate has:

2+ years’ experience as a head coach of a competitive swim team
An impeccable understanding of swim stroke mechanics
Experience supervising and mentoring a staff of 2 or more age group coaches
ASCA level 2 or higher
Bachelor’s degree and personal experience in competitive swimming at the college level
Track record of swimmer retention, recruitment
Track record of swimmer development at the national level

Requirements:

Must pass a background check from USA Swimming and complete the USA Swimming head coaching requirements.

Position is open immediately. Applications accepted until position filled. Salary based on experience with incentives including swim team membership growth, ASCA certification level and team performance.
