Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club is seeking a highly motivated, creative, and energetic coach to fill the role of Head Age Group Coach for our year-round competitive swim team. ATAC is a privatized competitive swimming program managed by Performance Enhancement Enterprises, Inc. through a contractual relationship with the City of Tallahassee. The program is run under the direction of the City of Tallahassee Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs Department. The ATAC program has developed Olympic Trials qualifiers, USS Senior national finalists, USS Junior National finalists, and multiple high school state champions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in coaching age group swimming from learn-to-swim through the 11-12 age groups, as well as managing a staff of coaches responsible for implementing novice through elite age group training. This position will involve coordinating planning for program development under the direction of the Head coach, Terry Maul (ASCA level 5 certification) and the Senior Assistant Coach, Sami Pochowski in order to develop a seamless progression though all training levels.

Responsibilities:

  • Development and implementation of the training program for the age group level
  • Create programs to increase participation in the age group program
  • Organize and direct the summer league, fall league, and spring league programs
  • Prepare 10 & under and 11-12 age groups for participation in FLAGS championship
  • In conjunction with the Senior Assistant Coach, develop an age appropriate progressive dryland training program for age group athletes
  • Keep accurate practice attendance records
  • Attend staff meetings as required
  • Establish and maintain appropriate and timely communications with swimmers, parents, coaches and team administration
  • Attend all swim meets involving ATAC age group swimmers.
  • Participate in team projects, planning and programs and support team activities
  • Understand that this position will on occasion require working mornings, evenings and weekends
  • Encourage positive attitudes through a system of positive and corrective reinforcement

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Up to date USA Swimming credentials – USA Swimming Registered Coach
  • 2 + years coaching experience with age group swimming
  • Knowledge and ability to teach technique and stroke mechanics using video
  • Knowledge and ability to set up a weekly, seasonal, and long-term training plan
  • Ability and willingness to work with all ages and ability levels
  • Ability to make effective classroom style presentation to parents explaining the season plan
  • Knowledge of the use of current social media for communication and promotion
  • Knowledge of Team Unify online team management program and Hytek meet management software

 

Other Requirements

  • Must pass a background check with USA Swimming and the Performance Enhancement Enterprises, Inc. and complete the USA Swimming coaching requirements
  • Provide a minimum of 3 references
  • As part of the application process, include a written statement explaining why you are interested in this position and outline your plan for a future in the coaching profession
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Must travel to out of town meets (travel expenses will be reimbursed)
  • Must submit to a pre-employment drug test and random drug testing while employed

Must sign a minimum of a two-year contract

Salary is commensurate with ability and experience and will be discussed with the Head Coach
