Roh Min-sang, the 50-year old coach of the South Korean National Team, has resigned his post, according to the Korean Times.
This is at least the third high-profile National Team Coach position to change hands in the last year, following the USA’s firing of Mark Schubert and the resignation of Australia’s Alan Thompson. Unlike those two, however, Roh seems to be leaving on more positive terms, including stating that he will continue to work to improve the development of Korean swimming.
Roh is most well-known for working with National swimming sensation Tae-Hwan Park. Since 2009, however, when Park left South Korea to train in Australia, his role in that training has been greatly diminished.
Roh gave no other reason for his departure other than saying that it was time to give a new coach the opportunity to head the National Team, and thus far, no indication has been given that there is conflict brewing behind-the-scenes as there was with Schubert and Thompson.
