Hattersley Breaks Scottish Record in the 1500 Freestyle

Camilla Hattersley completed an impressive showing at the Scottish National Championships by winning her fourth gold in as many days. On Thursday Hattersley won the 200 freestyle, Friday she took the 800 freestyle, Saturday it was the 400 freestyle and on Sunday she picked up her fourth victory in the 1500 freestyle.

The British Olympian won the women’s 1500 freestyle in a time of 16:16.72, breaking her own Scottish record of 16:25.56 by almost a nine seconds.

There were a few very exciting races on the final day of the championships. The top two swimmers in the men’s 100 butterfly were only separated by seven one-hundredths of a second. Conor Brines touched in a time of 53.81 followed by Cameron Brodie who hit the wall in a time of 53.88. Sean Campsie was not far behind posting a time of 53.93.

After the first 50 meters Max Litchfield held the lead in the men’s 400 IM followed closely by Etay Gurevich throughout the entire race. Litchfield eventually touched in a time of 4:18.07 followed by Gurevich who recorded a 4:18.57.

In the women’s 100 freestyle came down to the narrowest of margins as Emily Jones hit the wall in a time of 58.37 followed by Rebecca Murray who touched in a time of 58.38.

Guy Barnea of Israel took the men’s 50 backstroke in a time 25.24, 22 one-hundredths of a second off his season’s best of 25.02.

Jeff. The female 100 freestyle that you mention is the B final. Rachel Masson won the A final in a 55
