The Gardner-Webb women will have picked up their latest verbal commitment from Madolyn Aucremann, a freestyle/butterflier from Saint Augustine, Florida. Aucremann currently trains club with the Saint Augustine Swim Team and is a senior at Pedro Menendez High School.
Last season, Aucremann was a 2-time finalist at the Florida 2A High School State Championships. There, she finished 7th in the 100 fly and 8th in the 500 free. She was also a medalist in both events at the 2A Region 1 meet, and a district 3 champion in the 500 free.
Aucremann’s Top Times:
- 100 fly- 58.53
- 50 free- 26.71
- 500 free- 5:09.76
- 1650 free- 18:20.74
When she starts her NCAA career next season, Aucremann will join Gardner-Webb at the CCSA Championships. Her biggest contributions will likely come in the 100 fly and 500 free, which have been her focus events during her high school swimming career.
As a freshman, she could have an immediate scoring impact for the team with marginal improvements. With her current best time, she’s within one tenth of what it took to score in the 500 free at 2016 CCSAs. Additionally, she’s just a few tenths shy of scoring range in the 100 fly.
