FRESNO, Calif. – Behind 11 event wins, the Fresno State swimming and diving team wrapped up the regular season on Saturday afternoon with a 172-117 dual meet victory over San Jose State on Senior Day at the Aquatics Center.
Honoring the ‘Dogs seven seniors prior to the meet, the Bulldogs earned a pair of first-place finishes from seniors Athena Clayson (100 Back, 200 Back) Silvia Alessio (1 Meter, 3 Meter Diving) & Mackenzie Hutler (100, 200 Fly).
Sophomore Madison Caserio notched a pair of wins in the 100 Free & 1000 Free, Aliz Kalmar won the 200 Breast, Samarah Melia won the 200 Free and the 200 medley relay team of Clayson, Kalmar, Hutler & Melia clocked a season-best time of 1:42.06.
The ‘Dogs head to postseason next month competing in the 2023 Mountain West Championships taking place on Feb. 15-18 in Houston, Texas at the CRWC Natatorium.

FRESNO, Calif. – Cali Rowland took first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.54 and second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:21.14. The Spartans finished with a final score of 117-172 against Fresno State.
- Amelia Snyder placed first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:06.33.
- Ela Freiman finished first in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:30.45.
- Freshman Lais Silva finished first in the 50-yard freestyle with a 24.04.
- Zsófia Muzsnay recorded a 2:04.85 in the 200-yard butterfly to finish second.
- Jenna Jagielski recorded a final score of 250.58 in the 3-meter dive to take second.
- Reagan Mathieson placed second in the 100-yard freestyle with a final time of 52.18.
UP NEXT: SJSU Swim and Dive will head to Colorado Springs, Co. for the Air Force Invitational from Febuary 2-4.
