Former KC Teacher, Coach Accused of 20 Years of Sexual Exploitation

A former high school teacher and swim coach in the Kansas City area has been indicted by a federal grand jury on allegations that he sexually exploited seven minors over two decades.

James Russell Green, Jr. was a teacher and swim coach at Oak Park High School and had previously coached at several other area schools and at Hallbrook Country Club in Kansas. The 53-year-old is accused of engaging in sexual activity with minors and with filming some of those encounters while also filming and possessing other child pornography. That’s according to The Kansas City Star.

The Star reports that Green recorded “graphic” sexual encounters with multiple underage victims, and that Green had videos taken with a secret video camera showing minors between the ages of 14 and 17 undressing or preparing to take a shower.

Green allegedly began a sexual relationship with a minor student in 2005, buying the student gifts while also engaging in oral and anal sex with the minor. The victim says he cut off contact with Green, but that Green recontacted him and refused to leave the boy alone. The victim eventually contacted police in April of 2017, and the Star reports that police were also investigating allegations that Green had had a sexual relationship with a different 16-year-old.

Court documents show that Green admitted to police that he’d had sexual relationships with at least two minors, and that he’d filmed boys in locker rooms at multiple schools where he had coached or taught. Green is now accused of sexually exploiting seven different victims. You can read more about the charges in the Star piece here.
