IRVING, Texas – FIU swimmer Christie Chue and diver Paige Burrell were named the American Athletic Conference Swimmer & Diver of the week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.
Chue shined in the FIU Sprint Invite this past Wednesday, Jan. 3. She racked up three first-place finishes in the 50-breast (29.12), 100-free (53.37), and 100-breast (1:05.25), while notching a top three placement in the 100-IM (1:00.04). It marks the third AAC Swimmer of the Week honor for Chue as she earned the awards on Nov. 7 and Nov. 21.
Burrell, the fifth-year student took home first in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events in the FIU Sprint Invite against the likes of divers from Alabama and UMass. Burrell scored a 295.95 on the 1-mtr and followed it up with 327.55 on the 3-mtr. It is the second time the Lansdale, Pa. native earned the award, taking it home on Nov. 7.
