California’s Stefan Keller Verbally Commits to Towson

Stefan Keller of Santa Rosa, California has verbally committed to swim for the Tigers of Towson University.

“I chose Towson because I felt so welcome and at home there,” Keller said of his choice. “The swim team and coaches are amazing and I can’t wait to swim with the Tigers in the fall.”

Keller swims for Neptune Swimming under head coach Dan Greaves. His best SCY times include:

200 Butterfly – 1:53.71
100 Breaststroke – 58.77
200 Breaststroke – 2:05.18
200 IM – 1:54.55
400 IM – 4:05.58

Towson’s top time in the men’s 200 Butterfly last year belonged to Matthew McKenney, who posted a 1:46.14. With his current best time, Keller would have had the 4th fastest time on the team last year. In the 100 and 200 Breaststroke events, Keller’s times would place him in 6th and 3rd, respectively, for the team. For the IM events, Keller would have been 3rd and 5th for Towson, respectively.

Keller’s times are still improving steadily. Over the last two years, Keller has lowered his 100 Breaststroke time by over a second. His 200 Breaststroke is now five seconds faster than it was in 2012. In fact, he has posted best times for all of his top events in 2014. He is on track to continue improving during his senior season before entering Towson and has a shot at contributing points for the Tigers early on in his college career.
