British swimmer Reiss Ormonde-Cunningham has been practicing his kicking, but in more ways than just his usual kick sets in the pool. He recently uploaded a video to YouTube to highlight his place kicking and field goal kicking skills. Check out the video below to see Ormonde-Cunningham successfully make field goals from different angles and distances around the field.
While many swimmers claim their lack of coordination for land-based sports is what led them to choose swimming to pursue long-term, Ormonde-Cunningham proves that swimmers are just all-around good athletes. Since he uploaded the video on October 21st, four U.S. college have reached out to express interest in him not for swimming, but for football.
As a swimmer, Ormonde-Cunningham is currently attending Mount Kelly School on a swimming scholarship. He represents the school at a National level. So far his accomplishments in the pool include his silver and bronze medal at the South England Championships (Zonals) last year.
Ormonde-Cunnningham’s best events span across the breast, fly, and IM races. Last season, he set new personal bests in both long course meter IMs with his 2:14.00 in the 200 IM and 4:42.85 in the 400 IM.
Looks like a Jim Harbaugh recruit!
Brad Craig could kick too
If he’s kicking like that, he’s getting lots of offers from rugby union teams throughout the UK, France & Italy.
And FYI, rugby union is the game American football wants to be when it grows up! (Before every one goes all ballistic, it’s a joke and just a reflection of my preference.)
This guy sounds like a baller
I saw John Murray hit a 50 yard field goal with no practice, 5th year eligibility maybe?(UT needs a kicker)
Feat. Me as the ball boy
He’s kicking a Rugby ball. They might be easier to kick than an American football, but I don’t know if it is easier or not. Being a rounder ball than an American football, they might travel straighter and farther.
Anyone know? I don’t, having never played Rugby.
Yes. Kicking a rugby ball is much ‘more similar’ to kicking a soccer ball than to a foot ball.
1 is completely round. While football and rugby balls are not. Therefore rugby all is far more like a football than a soccer ball
Try kicking a rugby ball then comment on how difficult those kicks are
those kicks are difficult – i watched rugby enough to see that …..that guy is gifted
Said by the guy who didn’t get 4 calls in 4 days.
American footballs are way lighter and a lot easier to kick because of their shape meaning he should be able to kick a football a lot further, should defo take the football offer
I don’t believe a drop kid would be as doable with an American football as it is with a rugby ball. Still pretty impressive and if he can translate those skills to American football he has some real possibilities (outside of the possibilities he already has).
Wow, COOL!
