Alys Thomas is a professional swimmer who represents Wales and Great Britain internationally.
2017 World Championships
In Budapest, Alys swam the 100 fly, making it to semis and tying for 12th overall (58.21).
2018 Commonwealth Games
At the 2018 Comm games, at the age of 27, Thomas won the 200 fly and set a new games record (2:05.45), her first major international title. She also contributed to Wales’ bronze medal winning 4×100 medley relay. She also placed 7th in the 100 fly with a personal best of 58.06 and and 6th in the 50 fly (26.78), swimming a PB of 26.72 in the semis.
2018 European Championships
Thomas backed up her performance in Gold Coast by winning another medal at the 2018 Euro’s in the 200 fly, this time bronze (2:07.42) in a very tight race that saw only .29 between 1st and 3rd. She again earned another bronze in the 4×100 medley relay, this time competing for Britain. She swam prelims and semis of the 100 fly, but finished 9th in semis, just outside of qualifying for the final heat. She also swam prelims of the 50 fly, touching in at 27.24 for 25th.
