Seventh-seed (RV) Air Force men’s water polo (17-16), dropped a 15-11 game to second-seed #12 LMU in the opening game of the 2023 WCC Men’s Water Polo Tournament Friday morning at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool on the campus of Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif.

LMU took control of the game early, jumping ahead 8-2 after the first quarter.  After Air Force opened with the first goal of the game, the Lions scored seven consecutive goals.

Air Force out-scored LMU 9-7 the following three quarters, but the early deficit was too big a hurdle to overcome.

Senior Ian Christie led the Falcons with five points on two goals and three assists.  Freshman Tom Leggett scored four goals.  Junior Jacob Yi had a hat trick with three goals and an assist.  Freshman Jack Richards had four assists.

Sophomore Luca Smith started in goal, notching 13 assists and two steals.

Air Force finished with a winning record for the third straight season for the first time since 2009.
