Adam Batson of Chapel Hill, N.C., is now listed as ineligible in the U.S. Center for SafeSport database, with his status updating on March 28.
Batson, 21, was added to the database in December 2021 under temporary suspension for allegations of misconduct.
He is now ineligible, meaning he is prohibited from any participation in USA Swimming until further notice. His misconduct is listed under ‘Criminal Disposition – involving a minor’ and ‘Sexual Misconduct.’ It is subject to appeal and therefore not yet final.
In January, USA Swimming confirmed that Batson was registered as an athlete member of the organization.
In August 2021, Batson was registered on the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry for a list of 12 offenses dated February 26, 2020.
All 12 are listed as second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He was 19 at the time of the offenses. His probation is listed at 36 months, and he’s required to be registered in the database for a minimum of 10 years.
Batson most recently competed as a member of the Carolina Aquatic Team in February 2020. He has also represented Chapel Hill Senior High School, YMCA of the Triangle Area Swim Team (YOTA) and Chaple Hill-Carrboro YMCA in the past.
