Job Summary
The Cedar Park Typhoons swim team board is looking for a fun and energetic head coach to work closely with us to create a great 2025 swim season for our roughly 230 swimmers (ages 4-17). Applicants for assistant coaching positions are also welcome. (Head coach position is salaried; assistant coaching positions are hourly.)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead our team during the 2025 summer swim season. We will likely begin practices ~April 28 and finish our season ~July 1. (Exact schedule still to be finalized by Northwest Swim Circuit.)
- Guide assistant coaches, junior assistant coaches, and delegate coaching duties
- Foster a team culture that makes swimming fun, safe and accessible to swimmers of all ages and abilities; promote sportsmanship, individual achievement, healthy competition, hard work, goal setting, self discipline and teamwork.
- Create workouts and facilitate weekday age-group swim practices. Practices are after school until school is out then switch to mornings for the duration of the season. (Approximately five hours per day.)
- Facilitate two swimmer evaluations in April
- Attend and coach at our swim meets including our “time trials” in mid-May (Saturday), 6 or so regular season dual or tri-meets (Saturdays), and our final invitational meet (Sunday).
- Attend the end-of-season banquet to celebrate our swimmers (typically the Tuesday evening after the season concludes)
- Communicate regularly with swim team parents
- Communicate regularly with the Cedar Park Typhoon Board
- Attend some of the monthly board meetings (mostly important close to and during the season)
We do not provide benefits. Background check required. Coaching experience required if applying for head coach position.
