Open Water Nationals standouts Katie Grimes and Joey Tepper highlight the projected U.S. roster for 2021 World Junior Open Water Championships.
No official roster has been announced yet, but USA Swimming did publish selection criteria ahead of the Open Water National Championships. Based on those criteria, and the Open Water Nationals results, we can project out which athletes would be in line for which spots on the World Juniors roster.
Each event is age-bracketed to specific ages based on birth year, not birth date. We did our best to verify athlete ages, but if we mis-classified someone based on their age as of U.S. Nationals results, let us know and we’ll update our list.

will the national team roster change much?
Do they have alternates if someone declines? If so, who are the first people in?
Default to top 2 in each age group/race, and then if there are declines they will go down the finish order to 3rd, then 4th, etc.
If this is correct Sandpiper will have 6 swimmers on the team.
50% of the world junior roster…3+1alumni out of 11 2021 National team spots…those kids must be hungry.
Sandpipers seem to dominate the event. How do they do it?
Think Katie Grimes should be 5K
