We do, obviously.

Only a 2-sport gold medalist could make this choice even remotely hard for us.

Oh, we’re thinking about it.

#5

There is almost no Olympic stat that would make Michael Phelps seem less amazing.

And got a little bit better than “good.”

I love Rowdy’s enthusiasm for the sport. Other commentator don’t have the same passion or excitement.

There’s this fellow….Melvin Stewart

Steve Nolan

Or you could get the best mix of apathy and uninformedness, Bode Miller!

I would love to see a 200 breast LCM by them both. Would change hands a lot I would imagine.

I always said that I wished MP would have taken his last Olympic cycle (in a perfect world) and focused on other events like the 100 Free and backstrokes. Just For fun. Wish other swimmers would too. Would be great if CD did this as well.

It’s certainly not impossible; But based on his race stat breakdown provided by the Swimswam analysis, it’s a long way off. As IM fan said, his speed into the walls was actually quite average (I’m talking relative to Peaty; world class generally) – And that will be amplified in a LC pool when he is only halfway down th 50 and already travelling so much slower.

I’ll plump that his start & pullouts take him to a 59low in the LC pool.

I would say SCM or SCY Dressel would definitely be up there because his turns are immense, LCM nobody can even come close to Peaty as he is so powerful up the length, if Peaty could sort his turns out he could go much quicker than the 55. he went in the European Short Course, not sure if anyone else noticed but the Russian was taking at least a metre off Peaty on every turn and Peaty was getting it back on the swim.
I don’t know how Dressel does his turn so well compared to anyone else, must just have mastered the perfect streamlined body position.

If I were Peaty I would be offended. Dressel killed a 100 scy breast, but when you have monster underwater pulls it’s easy to fake short course, the guy only took 18 strokes the whole race, in long course i bet he is a body length ahead of peaty off the start and then it goes down hill.

In all honesty, that comparison was good until it compared Dressels speed into the wall to peatys, because obvious the speed at the end of a lcm lap is comparable to the speed at the end of a scm lap.

That response by Peaty is not only warranted but hilarious. I would love to see that race, but Peaty definitely has it.

Yeah, I think Peaty has earned the right to be skeptical in the 100 breast. My guess is that CD could do a 58.- 100 breast. Certainly world class, but not close to Peaty. Would love to see them race at worlds

I’d love to see these two square off in SCM, but I think LCM would be a non-event. Don’t think Dressel would translate to LC as well as in the free and fly where his crawl and dolphin are world class apart from just his starts/underwaters. Dressel would do well to break the 1min barrier. But I doubt he would trouble a peak Cordes in LC.
