Lincoln Hofmann Flips Commitment From Pitt To Indiana For 2026-27

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Louisville, Kentucky native Lincoln Hofmann has flipped his commitment to Indiana University, less than a month after Chase Kreitler (who had recruited him to the University of Pittsburgh) announced his resignation. Hofmann wrote on social media:

“After careful consideration and some unfortunate events, I am very excited to announce my commitment to IU Bloomington to continue destroying the competition. Thank you to all the coaches over at IU for this opportunity, I could not be more grateful, as it has been my dream since I was young to be able to swim at such a great and historic program. I’m ready to win, and do anything to beat the competition. Go Hoosiers! 🔴⚪️🔴⚪️

A senior at Louisville Collegiate High School, Hofmann swims year-round with Cardinal Aquatics, specializing mainly in sprint freestyle and backstroke. He wrapped up his prep career at Collegiate by winning state titles in both the 100 free (43.67) and 100 back (48.34) at the 2026 KHSAA State Championships. As a junior, he had placed 2nd in the free (45.11) and 3rd in the back (48.67) with lifetime bests in both events.

In March, Hofmann competed at SwimStrong Dryland National Championships, taking home new PBs in the 50 free (20.04), 100 back (47.98), and 200 back (1:43.67). That’s a marked improvement from his performances at 2025 Winter Juniors East, when he produced PBs of 20.41 in the 50 free and 48.10 in the 100 back.

Top SCY times:

  • 50 free – 20.04
  • 100 free – 43.67
  • 100 back – 47.98
  • 200 back – 1:43.67

Hofmann will suit up for the Hoosiers in the fall with fellow class of 2030 commits Gabriel Manteufel, Brody Engelstad, Elliot Rijnovean, Grant Kellis, Matt Krause, Sam Wolf, Carter Hadley, Landon Fike, Oliver Dawson, and Mason Mankey (diving).

Indiana has won the last five Big Ten Conference Championships in a row. It took 20.19/43.71 in the freestyles and 46.54/1:43.99 in the backstrokes to score at the 2026 conference meet.

Can’t blame the swimmer. He was recruited to the best program in the East and the most improved D1 program. He ended up with one of the best programs in Western Pennsylvania.

“Unfortunate events…”

Pitt just getting punched left and right.

Also, “destroy the competition” is hilarious.
